A well-known local weather presenter is departing her current station after just under a year, becoming the fourth on-air personality to leave since the summer.
Julia Fife, 31, works as a weather expert for the local Fox station, KDFW-TV in Dallas,Texas, announced on Monday that the next day would mark her final day at the station.
‘It has been a great privilege to collaborate with icons in this field whom I have admired for many years,’ she posted on social media.
Thank you DFW for inviting me into your homes. It has been an amazing experience and a dream come true for this girl from Texas. Keep an eye out [heart emoji].
Fife’s surprising announcement was made just five months after she joined KDFW. She shared a picture from the station in July, writing: ‘Full circle moment. DFW, I’m back.’ The reason for her departure remains unknown, although the station she is employed at has experienced several staff reductions as television networks and affiliates reduce expenses.
Prior to beginning her profession as a weather forecaster, Fife attended the University of Texas and performed as a dancer for the Dallas Mavericks.
She also auditioned for the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and appeared on CMT’s reality show, but was not selected for the team.
Fife came back to Texas this year following a period at another local Fox station in Memphis, Tennessee.
She served as a meteorologist for the station’s Good Morning Memphis program for two years prior to moving back to Dallas.
The meteorologist’s fans rushed to her online platforms to show their sadness over her unexpected exit.
“Perhaps the quickest exit in FOX4’s history,” one comment stated.
‘It keeps going… should we begin placing wagers on who will depart next?!’ another person commented.
“Let me guess…… The Weather Channel?” another person guessed.
“MAKES ME WONDER WHAT IS HAPPENING AT FOX 4 — Too many people are retiring or moving to other roles,” a fourth person added.
KDFW has experienced the departure of four on-air hosts this year. Dylan Federico exited the station in July to join the Miami Fox affiliate, WSVN.
Fife assumed responsibility for Federico’s role during the summer, but another weather expert, Evan Andrews, stepped down soon after.
Popular news presenter Hanna Battah departed from KDFWto be part of ABC World News Now and Good Morning America First Look in New York City in October.
Fife praised her ‘best friend’ on the promotion, posting on Instagram: ‘Hanna, you’re the most supportive, modest, skilled, devoted, and lovely person I know.’
I’m extremely proud of you and can’t wait to witness your success in your upcoming phase.
Only a few weeks back, Fife shared a video of herself watching Battah on ABC News and commented: ‘Watching your best friend achieve her dream.’
Even though Fife did not explain her reason for leaving the station or whether she has another role waiting, some of her fans have suggested that she might be moving to New York with Battah.
“Everyone keeps leaving. I think you’re definitely going to join Hannah at the Big Apple,” one comment said.
“First Hanna. And you!!! Who’s taking our Texas Girls!!!!” another commented.
