The quarterback position remains unclear following the 2025 NFL Draft. Although the team invested a sixth-round selection on Ohio State’s passer Will Howard, the Steelers lack a starter-quality QB and continue to await Aaron Rodgers’ choice.
Although the uncertainty surrounding Rodgers puts Pittsburgh on high alert, general manager Omar Khan isn’t allowing this to prevent him from taking action.

The Steelers have agreed to sign wide receiver Robert Woods for a one-year contract totaling $2 million.
“The Steelers have agreed to sign experienced wide receiver Robert Woods to a one-year contract worth $2 million. He brings both a valuable target and significant leadership to what will be an important quarterback situation. This move positions the ex-TEXANS wideout very well,” Rapoport noted.
Woods is not considered a top-volume pass-catcher anymore, but at 33 years old, he brings extensive experience and will provide reliable backup support in Pittsburgh’s receiving corps. Previously selected in the second round, Woods played for the Houston Texans in both 2023 and 2024, accumulating 20 catches for 203 yards in his most recent season.
The Steelers have already made a notable addition to their receiving corps this off-season by trading for DK Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks. However, securing Woods with an affordable contract following the draft demonstrates smart team management.
The team that won Super Bowl LVI has recorded two 1,000-yard seasons during their career, with both occurrences happening whilst playing for the Los Angeles Rams.
