Two eateries located in the Delmar Maker District are set to shut down within the next seven days due to a lack of business following the tornado that struck the region on May 16.

Steve’s Hot Dogs and the Fountain on Delmar will stop serving customers on January 10.

Both businesses are affiliated with the HuSTL Hospitality Group, which mentioned in a press release, “Although the team and the community made a strong effort, the relocation of residents and the extended period required for neighborhood redevelopment have rendered continuous daily in-person operations at this site unfeasible.”

The organization stated that it intends to change its business approach in 2026 to focus on “high-volume, low-margin” opportunities such as stadiums, food courts, events, and long-term engagements.

“Although it continues to support all physical locations and the communities they serve, HuSTL is changing its approach to concentrate on these high-traffic models for any new openings. This change aims to provide more stable, well-paying jobs for the staff by reaching customers where they are,” the hospitality company stated.

Other locations of Steve’s Hot Dogs, along with the main Fountain location, The Fountain on Locust, continue to be open.

HuSTL mentioned that a new Steve’s Hot Dogs food truck will begin operations on March 1. “This mobile unit will enable Steve’s Hot Dogs to provide service to the area more efficiently and with reduced costs,” the organization stated.

The hospitality company was significantly involved inraising capital for Delmar businessesdamaged by the tornado, even though both the newly constructed Steve’s Hot Dogs and Fountain locations weresignificantly damaged.

“We strongly believe this neighborhood requires affordable, genuine community areas, and we will keep pushing for this region; we are eager to celebrate its revival,” said Danni Eickenhorst, CEO of HuSTL Hospitality.

The shutdowns are another setback for the small business community along Delmar Boulevard asa different business harmed by the May storm, Lobby by Union Studio, stated on Friday that it has no plans to reopen.
