PEORIA, Ill. — The world continues to be captivated by the epic saga of Pandora. "Avatar: Fire and Ash" remains a dominant force at the box office, showing no signs of slowing down. According to Box Office Pro, the film is expected to maintain its top position in its fourth weekend, with an estimated earnings range of $25 to $30 million.

The movie has already surpassed the $300 million mark domestically and has officially entered the billion-dollar worldwide club. As the film continues to roll, projections suggest it could end its domestic run around $425 million. This success underscores that the question is no longer whether "Avatar: Fire and Ash" is winning, but rather by how much it is winning.

The rest of the weekend box office

In second place this week is "Greenland 2: Migration," which is projected to earn between $9 and $12 million during its opening frame. The original "Greenland" had a limited release during the pandemic, which may have affected franchise recognition. However, the sequel has the potential to attract audiences during a less competitive period at the box office.

Rounding out the top three is "Zootopia 2," which continues to demonstrate remarkable longevity. Box Office Pro estimates the film will bring in another $9 to $12 million in its seventh weekend. This achievement has allowed "Zootopia 2" to surpass Frozen 2 as the highest-grossing Disney animated film of all time.

Jack’s thoughts: Avatar: Fire and Ash

This week, the focus remains on "Avatar: Fire and Ash," and after experiencing it in IMAX 3D, it’s clear why audiences keep returning. From the very first scene, the film feels like a seamless return to the world of Pandora. James Cameron once again proves his status as one of the greatest directors in the industry. The film immediately hooked me and maintained its engagement throughout its runtime.

The cast delivers exceptional performances, with Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, and the rest of the ensemble delivering strong and consistent work.

In terms of storytelling, the film introduces a new aspect of Na’vi culture, which became one of the most engaging elements of this third installment. However, the story does begin to feel somewhat repetitive compared to the previous films. While this does not significantly detract from the overall experience, it leaves me hoping that the fourth installment will take a completely different direction.

Despite this, the visuals are breathtaking, the acting is outstanding, and the story kept me fully engaged throughout.

My rating: "Avatar: Fire and Ash" receives an 8.5 out of 10.
