A Family Affair at the 2026 Golden Globes

Amy Madigan, a veteran actress known for her iconic roles, made a rare appearance on the red carpet at the 2026 Golden Globes alongside her husband, Ed Harris, and their daughter, Lily. The trio posed in coordinating looks, with Madigan and Harris matching in black tuxedos, creating a striking visual that captured the attention of fans and media alike.

Madigan, who is 75 years old, was nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for her role in Weapons. This marks her first Golden Globe nomination in 36 years and her first time attending the ceremony in 20 years. Her appearance at the event was not just a personal milestone but also a family affair, as she was joined by her husband and daughter.

The couple married in November 1983 while they were costarring in the film Places in the Heart. They welcomed their daughter, Lily, in 1993. Over the years, Madigan has been a constant presence at the Golden Globes, supporting her husband, who was nominated multiple times between 1996 and 2006.

For the 2026 event, Madigan chose to wear a black Thom Browne tuxedo, which echoed her look from the 1996 Golden Globes. The choice was both a nod to her past and a fresh take on her signature style. Her husband, Ed Harris, matched her in a similar black tuxedo, while their daughter, Lily, opted for a midnight blue sleeveless gown with a voluminous skirt and black platform boots.

A Nostalgic Look with a Modern Twist

Makeup artist Nick Barose, who worked on Madigan’s look for the event, shared insights into the inspiration behind her glamorous appearance. “I always do my homework, especially when working with a veteran like Amy who I’ve been a fan of for decades,” he said. Barose highlighted how Madigan’s 1996 Golden Globe look served as a key reference point for the 2026 appearance.

“The look from 30 years ago is so timeless,” he explained. “Many young starlets today dress and wear their makeup like that, so it’s easy to reinterpret it. But the one thing I skip is the matte texture on the skin and lips, which is hard to pull off in 2026. Instead, we opted for extra glow on the skin and a slight sheen on the lips.”

Barose also noted that Madigan’s past iconic looks from the 1980s and 1990s influenced his design. “For someone like Amy, who has so many cool red carpet looks from the 80s and 90s, I like to draw inspiration from her own past iconic looks,” he added.

A Celebration of Longevity and Legacy

Madigan and Harris have been a part of Hollywood for decades, and their journey has been marked by both personal and professional milestones. When asked about her nomination, Madigan expressed her excitement and humor. “We’ve both been doing it a really long time, so we’re just both having a good giggle about it. We’re both enjoying it,” she shared.

Madigan’s last Golden Globe nomination came in January 1990, when she won for her portrayal of lawyer Sarah Weddington in the TV movie Roe vs. Wade, which focused on the fight for reproductive rights. She also attended the ceremony in 1996, 1999, 2003, and 2006 to support Harris during his nominations.

As the 2026 Golden Globes approached, the Madigan-Harris family continued to make waves on the red carpet, blending nostalgia with modern elegance. Their appearance not only celebrated Amy’s career but also highlighted the enduring bond between the couple and their daughter.

The 83rd annual Golden Globe Awards took place at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on Sunday, Jan. 11, at 8 p.m. EST, airing on CBS and streaming on Paramount+.
