A New Era for Jackson: Prado Lofts Breaks Ground

Jackson, Mississippi, is set to welcome a new chapter in its urban development with the groundbreaking of Prado Lofts. This significant event took place on Thursday, marking the official start of construction for what promises to be one of the city’s most exciting projects.

Prado Lofts will be situated at 319 Meadowbrook Road, a prime location in the capital city. The project represents a $50 million investment and includes 215 residential units, along with a range of amenities such as a cabana, pool, and other recreational facilities. Gabriel Prado, president and CEO of PraCon Global Investment Group, described the development as “next level,” emphasizing the high standards and modern comforts that will be offered to residents.

Prado has a history of investing in Jackson and has shared his reasons for continuing to do so. He highlighted the city’s quality of life and the positive changes taking place. “Jackson has incredible offerings in quality of life,” he said. “I think the capital complex improvement district, Capitol Police, has been incredible.”

He also praised the improvements in security and the leadership of Mayor John Horhn, as well as the governor and lieutenant governor, who have all shown support for making Jackson a better place. “Security is getting so much better. Mayor Horhn is a champion for it, the governor, lieutenant governor, everybody has their eyes getting Jackson better,” Prado added.

Despite common misconceptions about the region, Prado remains committed to investing in Jackson and Mississippi. “Everybody has given up on this area; I don’t, and I know that I will inspire many others to continue to invest here and follow us to continue to invest,” he said. “And that is really where it really goes beyond economical means. It goes as a story of inspiration that opens up for many others to believe and change the mindset that might be different about Jackson and about Mississippi.”

Mayor John Horhn and other local officials were present at the ceremony, celebrating the new investment. Horhn emphasized the importance of developers like Prado in helping Jackson recover and grow. “The only way we’re going to bring our city back in addition to all the other improvements that we’re making,” he said. “We’ve got to development business, we have to retain our businesses, and also attract and bring new businesses into our community.”

Horhn also noted that this is the first $50 million project since 2021 and expressed his confidence in Prado’s vision. “I’m a big believer in Gabriel Prado,” he said. “He’s a big dreamer, but he’s a big doer also. He has a vision for Jackson and for future development in our capital city and we’re planning to be joined at the hip with him going forward.”

Construction on Prado Lofts is expected to begin on Friday and is anticipated to be completed within 13 months. This development is not just a financial investment but a statement of belief in the potential of Jackson and the broader Mississippi community.
