Faces off the field gives a close look into the thoughts and lives of high school student-athletes from the Austin area. Today we highlight Westlake softball player Caitlin Patterson, whose favorite vacation was a trip to the Virgin Islands.

Tell something about you that most people don’t know.
I have very specific routines that I follow throughout the day and I feel unproductive if I don’t follow my morning and night routines.
Outside of sports, what’s something you’re really good at?
Outside of sports, I believe I am very good at Uno. Everyone likes to say I cheat, but I think I have a special talent when it comes to Uno.
What has been your favorite vacation?
My favorite vacation was when I went to the Virgin Islands for my 16th birthday. I was with my family and a friend. I loved going out on a boat and snorkeling.
What is your most prized possession?
My most prized possession are my playlists. I really love music and listening to music with people I love, so I would be very disappointed if I didn’t have my fire playlists.
What do you plan to do after high school?
I plan to play softball in college while majoring in marketing. Eventually I would like to work in cosmetology and build my own brand.

What has been your favorite softball memory at Westlake?
My favorite memory at Westlake has been going to Corpus Christi and getting ready for games with my teammates.
Has softball taught you any lessons you apply to daily life?
Softball has taught me to stay humble because everyone has good and bad days. It’s also taught me to respect my peers and those older than me.
Outside of sports, what do you like most about your school?
I like the teachers at my school and the relationships I have built with them. Most of the teachers at Westlake do a great job and make sure every student feels seen.

I would pick Drake, Zendaya, (online streamer) Kai Cenat and Michael Jackson.
Why did you pick Drake?
I want to have dinner with Drake so that he can give me some of his millions and also to learn more about how he made his songs.
You’re in charge of the menu. What are you serving?
If I am in charge of the menu, everybody is eating good. We are all going to drink Shirley Temples to start followed by fried calamari and some seafood boil. For dessert we will be eating skillet cookies with ice cream on top.
