Fans of horror will be in for a special experience following the spin-off series for the highly-praisedSilence of the Lambs lands on Amazon Prime Video.
The 13-episode CBS show, Clarice, takes place one year following the events of the 1991 film Silence of the Lambs, which featuredJodie FosterClarice collaborates with the psychopath Hannibal Lecter to identify the serial killer known as Buffalo Bill.
The 2021 series features FBI agent Clarice Starling (played by Rebecca Breeds in this version) as she re-enters the male-dominated environment, deals with PTSD, and pursues serial killers once more.
The series is now gaining new viewers on Amazon Prime, rising rapidly up the top 10 list, having already reached fifth place and continuing to climb in the UK.
Its resurgence is not surprising given how influential its predecessor remains today.
Not only did The Silence of the Lambs win fiveAcademy Awardsin the most significant genres, but it has been widely recognized as one of the ‘greatest horror films ever’.
Lizshotter asserted that it “fails at every obstacle,” while justinfensack remarked that it was “nothing remarkable.”
Fans will need to determine for themselves whether it measures up to the film it’s connected to or if they prefer it on its own. Regardless of where you stand, you’ll have to appreciate the first season since there are no further ones planned.
In an interview with Dazed, lead actress Rebecca expressed her initial bond with and appreciation for the original work.
