Sophie Turnerhas considered the effect that having children at a young age has had on her professional life, stating that she has “had to work to start over.”
The British Game of Thronesstar, 29, is the mother of two daughters, who are five and three years old, from her previous marriage,pop star Joe Jonas.
Speaking to The GuardianIn a recent interview, Turner shared that she is content with having her children during her early twenties, stating, “It’s quite pleasant. I’m not concerned about my biological clock and things like that.”
Turner was 13 years old when she was chosen to portray Sansa Stark inGame of Thrones, and was part of the hit HBO show from 2011 to 2019. During the production of the series, she also played the main role of Jean Grey in the 2016 film X-Men: Apocalypse and its 2019 follow-up.Dark Phoenix.
She mentioned that taking a break afterward to focus on her family was “just the right time to concentrate on myself, since I had been a character for so long. Being at home and nesting was wonderful. However, the other side of it, and the pandemic didn’t make things easier, was that it was a significant pause from my career.”
She added, “And I’ve had to work on rebuilding, in a sense. You don’t realize how crucial momentum is in a profession, and I caused it to slow down a little.”
Turner and Jonas split up in 2024, the same year she appeared in the ITV crime seriesJoan. She will soon appear in the series set in LondonSteal, which is available on Prime Video this month. “The condition of our industry is gradually improving a bit,” stated Turner. “Particularly in the UK.”

Turner takes on a part that was previously played by Oscar-winning actresses Alicia Vikander and Angelina Jolie in previous movie versions.
