For many months, scientists and the general public have closely examined images of a vague, unclear shape to determine whether it is evidence of extraterrestrial life.
Discovered in July, 3I/ATLAS is not an ordinary comet – it’s a massive snowball originating from outside our solar system.
The comet, previously referred to as A11pI3Z, flew past us in December. It will make a brief stop at Jupiter during the spring before returning to the vastness.

Currently, researchers have uncovered the findings of a focused scan searching for indications of radio-emitting technology within the object.
A team from Oxfordthe Breakthrough Project’s alien-hunting astronomy group, the Breakthrough Initiative, directed one of the world’s largestradio telescopes at 3I/ATLAS.
In a new paper, published in Research Notes of the American Astronomical Society, the group mentioned that the Green Bank Telescope did not detect any ‘potential signals’ on December 18.
This was when the comet was approximately 170 million miles from Earth.
Signals were identified, but none were artificial technosignatures, which would suggest the presence of technology on or within the comet.
The scientists stated: ‘3I/ATLAS mostly shows standard comet-like features, such as a coma and a non-elongated nucleus.’
They acknowledge that further studies on interstellar objects are required, as we have only identified three up to now.
Does the lack of radio signals confirm that the comet was not an extraterrestrial device?
It varies depending on the person you ask. Loeb statedthat he remains unaffected by the outcomes, considering that he supported Project Breakthrough in examining the object.
He mentioned that the origin of the 3I/ATLAS direction was approximately where the ‘Wow!’ signal was observed.
The anomaly was a 72-second radio signal in 1977 that hasnever been clarified – the astronomer who observed it wrote ‘wow!’ beside the data.
Loeb stated, “It remains uncertain if a technological device would send radio signals back to its originators, as those signals would require tens of thousands of years to traverse the Milky Way galaxy.”
While the duration it remains within the solar system, from start to the outermost part of the Oort Cloud, is merely 16,000 years.
Furthermore, any such signal might not be sent towards Earth or on the frequency band or date that was being observed.
Mark Christopher Lee, a specialist in unidentified flying objects, stated that he supports Loeb’s findings.
‘Advanced extraterrestrial intelligence, should it exist, could utilize completely different means of communication, like focused laser beams, quantum transmissions, or possibly no emissions whatsoever if the entity is a dormant probe,’ the filmmaker stated..
The lack of evidence does not confirm the absence.
Nick Pope, who probed unidentified flying objects, now commonly referred to as UAPs, on behalf of the Ministry of Defence during the 1990s, expressed his ‘disappointment’ with the results.
‘Perhaps 3I/ATLAS is truly just a rock, or maybe the idea that an alien spaceship would send radio signals is an anthropocentric, culturally limited assumption,’ he said to.
Regardless of this, the mere fact that the scan was carried out is praiseworthy in its own right.
For astrophysicist Dr Alfredo Carpineti, on the other hand, comet 3I/ATLAS is simply a comet.
The space correspondent for IFLScience noted: ‘An essential part of science involves conducting observations repeatedly to ensure we are as confident as possible.’
The ‘alien theory’ was never supported by any evidence… but it’s beneficial to have telescopes demonstrate, repeatedly, that this interstellar visitor has no artificial elements.
