A New Collaboration in the Film Industry

Magenta Light Studios, founded by Bob Yari, has entered into a significant partnership with Aanaxion Studio, a South Korean-based company that also operates in Los Angeles. This collaboration is set to produce ten films over several years, with the first project being the upcoming thriller Protector starring Milla Jovovich.

The Launch of Protector

The film Protector is scheduled for release on March 6 in U.S. theaters, which is slightly later than the initial announcement of February 20. Directed by Adrian Grunberg, the movie features Milla Jovovich as Nikki, a former war hero who thought she had left her violent past behind. However, when her daughter Chloe is kidnapped by a human trafficking ring, Nikki is forced to return to the criminal underworld to find her. Matthew Modine plays a supporting role, and the film is being distributed by Highland.

Expanding the Film Slate

The partnership between Magenta and Aanaxion will see the development and production of ten films across various genres, including sci-fi, action, elevated horror, and prestige drama. While some of these films may be released by Magenta, details about additional titles and creative teams are expected to be revealed in the coming months.

Recent Releases and Upcoming Projects

Magenta has been active in the film industry, releasing notable projects such as Simon West’s Bride Hard, featuring Rebel Wilson, and JT Mollner’s critically acclaimed thriller Strange Darling. The studio has more projects in the pipeline, including Protector and Renny Harlin’s Deep Water, set for release in May and starring Aaron Eckhart and Ben Kingsley.

Industry Experience and Strategic Alliances

Bob Yari, a veteran in Hollywood, is best known for producing the 2004 Best Picture winner Crash. He currently serves as an executive producer on the Taylor Sheridan universe at Paramount. Magenta also has a production and finance deal with Evoke Entertainment and Freefall Films, further strengthening its position in the industry.

Aanaxion’s Expansion into Hollywood

Aanaxion, which has primarily focused on development in Korea, is now making strides in Hollywood. Protector marks its first U.S. production. The company gained attention last summer when it appointed Norman Grossfeld, known for his work on the Pokémon movies, to lead Konfetti Studios, a kids content outfit based in Seoul and Los Angeles.

Vision for Global Storytelling

Yari, CEO of Magenta Light Studios, emphasized the importance of global storytelling in the partnership. “This collaboration reflects our commitment to globally driven storytelling. Protector is a powerful launch for this collaboration, and together we’re building an ambitious, multi-genre slate,” he stated.

Bong-Seob Mun, CEO of Aanaxion Studio, highlighted the significance of the partnership. “This partnership marks a truly significant milestone, allowing us to create a film with the power to resonate on the global stage. The collaboration between a Korean production company and Magenta Light Studios sets a bold new standard for culture, industry, and storytelling. I am confident it will inspire the creation of groundbreaking, universal films that connect audiences everywhere.”

Future Prospects

With this strategic alliance, both companies are poised to make a significant impact in the film industry. As they continue to develop their slate of projects, the collaboration promises to bring diverse and compelling stories to audiences worldwide.
