Outline:
A new innovation in the field of car seats promises to make entering for older people and those with reduced mobility much easier. The seat automatically turns outward and lowers to the correct height, allowing entry without effort or pain. This smart invention, the rotating seat system, allows us to already enter?
How does this system exactly work, when is it available and does it fit every car? We list the facts and possibilities:
What’s new?
The most discussedinnovationsare electrically driven swivel seat systems (also known as “swivel” or “turning transfer seats”). Well-known examples are the Turny® Evo from BraunAbility and similar systems from Paravan.
Slide the chair all the way out and let it electrically lower to sitting height. Sit down outside the car; with one press of the button, the system gently tilts you inward.

Is this already for sale and where?
Yes. The Turny® Evo and similar systems are now available through authorized mobility dealers in Europe and beyond. They are installed after-market into your current car.
In addition, there are factory options for specific models/markets (e.g., Toyota’s “Welcab” with a swivel/tilt chair). However, these are model and country-specific configurations, not universal.
Past it in every car?
No! Built-in is model-dependent. Manufacturers keep compatibility lists (brand, model, year of manufacture, position in the car).
Many passenger cars, MPVs, and SUVs are eligible; sometimes you choose a chair lift (such as Turny® Evo) instead of a simple rotating platform to cover an additional height difference.
Higher cars often require such a lift; lower cars can sometimes use a simpler pivot base (Turnout). Always have a dealer perform a test drive to see if it is suitable for your current car and whether it suits you.
Handy to know
- The Turny® Evo is designed to bring the entire seat surface outward and lower it to your ideal height.
- There is also a Turnout (swivel base without lift) for lower cars.
- Paravan offers similar rotating/lifting solutions and reports installations in “virtually any” type of passenger bus/MPV with custom work.
How does it work in practice?
- Take position outside, feet on the built-in footrest;
- Click the button(manual operation or app), the chair turns inward and lifts you up;
- Programmable movement: de route can be set by car/user (more head and legroom, slower movement).

Safety and comfort
These seats and corresponding seating positions have been crash tested according to the current standards and are available in variants for different body postures. Installation is carried out by certified installation partners; your original seat can be removed and, if desired, reinstalled (reversible). The car seat is completely safe.
How much does it cost approximately?
Prices vary per car, seat variant and country. In practice, you will see indicative total prices (including installation) that start from several thousand euros, depending on the configuration.
- In the US, dealers communicate bandwidths between roughly $5,000 and $12,999.
- European total prices usually lie in comparable regions (currency/VAT and options vary).
Always request a custom quote and compare.
Is it already for sale in the Netherlands?
Is it an asset?
Sure. The biggest gain is in fewer bends, twists and lifts when entering, plus safer transferring with limited mobility (e.g., arthritis, new hip/knee). With a good pass, you can avoid disappointments regarding height, door opening and turning circle.
Compensation?
As with the most beautiful and luxurious inventions, you have to take out your wallet for it. In the Netherlands, this is not usually reimbursed by health insurance. A modification such as a rotating or sliding car seat, falls under mobility and transportation facilities, and not under basic care. You may well avoid it.exciting fall partyme.
Short Q&A
1. When has it been on the market?
Aftermarket systems such as Turny® Evo are now available through certified dealers (also in Europe/NL). Certain manufacturers have already offered Welcab-like factory options on specific markets for years.
2. After every car or only special vehicles?
Not every model is suitable, but many cars are. There areCompatibility listsper make/model/year, and there are different technical variants (rotating platform vs. chair lift) to bridge high/low.
Practical checklist for purchase
- Test sitting: test in- and out trip with coat, bag and your usual shoes.
- Auto-match: Let the dealer measure your specific car and door width/entry height.
- Operation: choose hand pendant or smartphone app, and determine the speed/route.
- Sitting: discussion on the correct seat (BEV/BIS/Compact/Recaro) and lumbar support.
- Paperwork: inquire about warranty, inspection and insurance (and possible compensations/subsidies, nationally regulated).
- End: schedule a re-appointment after a few weeks of use.
