Carrie Underwood, the acclaimed country music star, has always been known for her powerful voice and charismatic stage presence. However, there are several lesser-known aspects of her life that many fans might not be aware of. One such detail is her struggle with her eyesight. In a candid interview with Us Weekly in 2015, while promoting her album "Storyteller," Underwood shared some unexpected facts about herself. Among other revelations, she admitted to being a slow driver and having poor navigational skills. She also mentioned having a longtime crush on Patrick Stewart, saying, "I don’t smoke, but sometimes I need a smoke break." Additionally, she confessed to difficulty in writing certain letters like the capital B or cursive Z, stating, "My hand just won’t do it."

Underwood also revealed another surprising fact: "I can’t see very well, but I refuse to wear contacts or glasses or go to the optometrist. I’m not sure why." While this statement was made during the interview, it wasn’t entirely accurate, as there were instances where she was seen wearing glasses early in her career. For example, during a rehearsal for the 2006 Country Music Association Awards, she was photographed wearing thin-framed eyeglasses while performing onstage. At the time, she was dressed in a gray long-sleeved sweater over a white top and cargo pants, with curled hair and minimal makeup.

In recent years, Underwood has rarely been seen wearing glasses and has shifted from her casual, laid-back style to a more glamorous appearance. This transformation has led to speculation about whether she has undergone plastic surgery to enhance her features. However, the truth behind her new look remains unclear.

Carrie Underwood’s transformation has sparked numerous rumors about plastic surgery.

Speaking to Redbook in 2018, Underwood addressed the rumors that surfaced after a viral accident in 2017, which left her with facial scars. "It’s a little sad, because the truth is just as interesting. I wish I’d gotten some awesome plastic surgery to make this [scar] look better," she said at the time. The incident resulted in a broken wrist and facial injuries that required at least 40 stitches. However, upon reviewing her old photos, Dr. Dennis Schimpf, a plastic surgeon based in Charleston, SC, suggested that surgical enhancements may have contributed to her new look.

According to Schimpf, Underwood may have undergone noninvasive treatments such as Botox, which she previously confirmed on "The Howard Stern Show." He also speculated that she might have had rhinoplasty and cheek fillers. "Her nose does look like the shape has changed over time with a reduction in size making it more feminine-looking," he noted. "Her skin texture looks very good, possibly as a result of laser resurfacing and or chemical peels with medical-grade skin care."

Fans have also speculated that Underwood may have undergone additional procedures and developed an addiction to fillers. In 2024, after she posted a selfie on Instagram to support a cause, many users expressed their concerns. One comment read, "STOP WITH THE SURGERY," while another wrote, "I agree, Carrie. This doesn’t even look like you. Please please stop! You didn’t need any of this." Some fans barely recognized her in the photo, with one user commenting, "I had no idea who this was when it popped up on my feed. I hope it’s just FaceTune and not surgery making you unrecognizable."
