Parents faced the highest penalties in Essex where Essex County Council imposed an astonishing total of 35,605 fines.
Bradford and Lancashire have also emerged as hotspots, with each local council issuing over 34,000 fines.
Even with the possibility of facing a penalty – which can be as high as £160 for each parent per child – Confused.com discovered that numerous families opt to take vacations during school terms.
According to a survey conducted among parents who have school-aged children, 86 percent stated they might opt to remove their child from school for a vacation.
Although 45 percent believed it was okay to remove a child from school at any age, approximately one quarter (23 percent) considered it appropriate only for primary-school-aged children.
Furthermore, one-third (33 percent) of the parents believed that traveling holds equal importance as traditional schooling.
