Fox News Suspends Show Over Trump Alert, Sparks Viewer Outrage

A New Focus on School Nutrition

Fox News made a notable shift from its usual programming on Wednesday to provide live coverage of President Donald Trump answering questions in the Oval Office regarding his recently signed Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act. The live segment featured Trump seated at his desk with a jug of whole milk nearby, as reporters from major networks took turns asking about the implications of the new law on school nutrition and the broader economy.

The act, signed by Trump on January 14, 2026, reversed Obama-era restrictions that limited school lunches to skim and low-fat milk options. It now allows full-fat and 2% milk to return to cafeterias participating in the National School Lunch Program. Additionally, the law expands access to nutritionally equivalent nondairy milk alternatives if students present a note from a parent instead of a doctor’s recommendation.

Trump’s Perspective on the New Law

During the briefing, one reporter inquired about how the act would affect the economy and national priorities. In response, Trump stated, “There have been a lot of changes made in the past year. We’re still a little bit less than a year out. I think, there’s probably never been a year like this for a president, for a country.”

He continued to highlight what he considered accomplishments, saying, “We’ve had tremendous success, we’ve had had success with everything we’ve done. And the economy now is coming back and here’s an example of farmers, they’re going to be working harder now,” while gesturing toward the jug of whole milk on the desk.

Support for the Legislation

The White House and administration officials have characterized the legislation as beneficial for both children’s nutrition and American dairy farmers. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins emphasized that the law supports dairy producers and aligns with updated federal dietary guidelines that promote full-fat dairy as part of a healthy diet.

Supporters argue that many children previously rejected low-fat milk, resulting in lower consumption and increased food waste. Some research suggests that full-fat dairy may offer health benefits. However, critics have expressed strong opposition to the changes during and after the live broadcast.

Criticisms and Concerns

One viewer commented, “It certainly has been a year, but not remotely the fairytale he’s created in his rotting brain.” Another remarked, “Yeah, nothing says ‘tremendous success’ like bragging about the greatest year ever while the world watches Iran burn and your own economy pretends it’s not on life support. Peak Trump energy: turning a dumpster fire into a victory lap.”

Another critic wrote, “More bulls—. It’s always just more bulls— and lies. The only success he’s had is burning the Constitution and harming Americans.” A different comment stated, “Yep, never been a year like this for a president. No other president has enriched themselves and family like this corrupt felon,” followed by another saying, “No president has been as successful as Trump at bankrupting tens of millions of Americans while funneling billions into his pockets and those of his billionaire donors, friends, admin officials, family and conspirators.”

Public Health Concerns

Opposition to the school milk change has also come from public health advocates who question the nutritional value of reintroducing full-fat dairy into young children’s diets. They contrast this with previous federal nutrition advice that recommended lower-fat options to reduce saturated fat intake. The original rules were part of the 2010 Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act, aimed at reducing childhood obesity.
