Like mother, like daughter.
Goldie Hawn has spoken out about her daughter, Kate Hudson, and the reasons behind their family’s immense pride in the actress from “Almost Famous.”
“We’re extremely, incredibly proud—something I don’t say often—but I’m in awe of Kate, and I believe we all are,” Hawn, 80, stated while talking about Hudson’s new role in “Song Sung Blue” during a joint interview with People published on Sunday.


Kate is her own person. I was fortunate to carry this little one in my womb and bring her into the world, and that’s what I’m thankful for,” the Oscar-winning actress said enthusiastically. “She continuously amazes me and all of us with her skill.

Hudson, 46, appears in the biographical film directed by Craig Breweralongside Hugh Jackman.
Coming out on December 25th, the movie is adapted from the 2008 documentary with the same title, and it focuses on the romantic relationship betweenClaire (Hudson) and Mike Sardina (Jackman)and the time they spent together in the Neil Diamond tribute band Lightning & Thunder.


Hudson’s portrayal of Claire resulted in her being nominated forBest Female Performer in a Feature Film – Musical or Comedyat the 2026 Golden Globe Awards and forBest Actress in a Major Roleat the 2026 Actor Awards.
It’s instinct. It’s not something that’s learned. We all live together. We’re a family. And we share very similar genetics,” Hawn said about her daughter’s ability. “We learn through example. We don’t learn through speeches, oratory, or anything like that.
“Kate clearly comes from two individuals involved in filmmaking, and that’s evident in how we conducted ourselves,” the actress from “First Wives Club” remarked.


Hawn and musician Bill Hudson, who is 76 years old, welcomed their son Oliver in 1976, and later had the star of “Glass Onion” in 1979.
The couple was married from 1976 to 1982, and Hawn began dating Kurt Russell, who is now 74, in 1983. Although the “Overboard” co-stars have not gotten married, they havebeen together ever sinceand share actor Wyatt Russell, 39, together.
It’s about balance—your life, your family, your children, the activities you want to do, and the things you care about. The books we’re reading, we share them,” Hawn explained. “There are many other meaningful aspects of life.


“Our work is a part of our actions, but it doesn’t define who we are, and these are two distinct aspects,” she added.
Hudson, on the other hand, discussed why she and her well-known mother have not yet appeared in a film together—and what she would be open to doing to get such a project off the ground.
I hope so! It has to!” the actress from “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” said to the publication during her and Hawn’s joint interview. “I might have to vanish into the mountains somewhere and just write it myself.

Hudson has previously spoken about her almost 30-year journey in Hollywood andthe “greatest present” she has received to dateduring the “Song Sung Blue” premiere in October.
“I believe the first thing that comes to mind is the people I’ve encountered, the relationships I’ve formed—they always seem to be my greatest treasures,” she said.
“I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of a world filled with individuals who are endlessly intriguing, smart, and unconventional, and who aim to live beyond the norm,” Hudson added.
