Key Development Projects Completed in Gushegu
Mr. Hafiz Adam, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Gushegu, has recently handed over several completed development projects focused on education and health to the communities that will benefit from them. These initiatives mark a significant step forward in improving infrastructure and services within the municipality.
The projects include a long lecture hall block at the Gushegu Nursing and Midwifery Training College, a 3-unit classroom block at Dikpung and Katani, and a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) Compound at Chempongyili. Each of these developments is designed to enhance the quality of life for residents by addressing critical gaps in education and healthcare.
Mr. Adam was accompanied by senior staff from the Assembly and executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Gushegu Constituency during the handover ceremony. The MCE also took the opportunity to inspect sites where new projects are set to begin, including school blocks and CHPS compounds at Nawuhugu and Namongbani. This inspection highlights the ongoing commitment to expanding educational and health infrastructure in the area.
At the Nursing and Midwifery Training College, Mr. Adam officially handed over the newly constructed lecture hall to the management and students. He emphasized that this facility would greatly enhance teaching and learning, and support the training of more health professionals for the municipality and beyond. The MCE noted that these educational and health projects are part of the Assembly’s broader agenda to expand infrastructure and improve access to quality services for the people of Gushegu.
He also reiterated the government’s commitment under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama to reset the country and improve the lives of citizens. Mr. Adam urged parents to prioritize the education of their children and make full use of the facilities provided. He reaffirmed his resolve to work with stakeholders to accelerate development in the municipality, stressing that by focusing on education and healthcare, the Assembly is making meaningful impacts on the lives of residents, particularly children and vulnerable groups.
Reactions from the College Principal and Community Leaders
Hajia Rabi Iddrisu, the Principal of the Gushegu Nursing and Midwifery Training College, expressed deep gratitude to the MCE and the Assembly for the intervention. She highlighted that the new lecture hall would significantly ease congestion and create a conducive learning environment for trainers and trainees.
She stated, “This facility has come at the right time. It will go a long way to support us in producing more qualified nurses and midwives, who will serve not only Gushegu but the Northern Region and the country at large.” However, she also appealed for additional infrastructure, including hostel facilities and teaching aids, to meet the increasing enrollment at the college.
The chiefs and people of the beneficiary communities also expressed their appreciation to the MCE and the government for the projects. They described them as timely interventions that would improve access to education and healthcare delivery in the region.
Ongoing Commitment to Development
The recent handover of these projects reflects the ongoing efforts of the local administration to address the needs of the community. By focusing on education and health, the Assembly continues to build a foundation for sustainable development in Gushegu. The continued collaboration between the government, local leaders, and the community is essential in ensuring that these initiatives lead to lasting improvements in the lives of residents.
As new projects are set to commence, there is a growing sense of optimism about the future of Gushegu. With a focus on education and healthcare, the municipality is taking important steps toward creating a better quality of life for all its inhabitants.
