Gwyneth Paltrowrecently shared her experiences of adapting to life as a parent with an empty nest following her children’s departure.
The 53-year-old Academy Award-winning actress has daughter Apple, 21, and son Moses, 19, from her previous marriage.Chris Martin, 48.
Earlier this month, she had a conversation withDemi Mooreat a question and answer session for her film Marty Supreme.
My children left for college, and I felt a huge void in my sense of direction and identity. Then this guy, Josh Safdie, reached out to me, and I was incredibly out of the loop. I had never even seen Timothée Chalamet in a film, which is…I swear. Now I do,” she said, according toPeople.
Paltrow, who stepped back from her film career to care for her children and manage the lifestyle brand Goop, mentioned that her return to acting was a ‘combination of factors.’
“I became aware that I had worked on an incredible number of movies before having my children,” she said.
Paltrow remembered, “There were years when I was filming four movies a year, sometimes five. I believe I didn’t allow myself the space to slow down and plan things out.”
I was recently on this train, moving along and along, and when I had my daughter, I truly wanted to come to a stop.
The movie star said, ‘I took a break for three years entirely and since then have occasionally dabbled. But I kind of wanted to avoid being in some remote place; I was a single parent.’
She portrays a former film actress in Marty Supreme, and throughout the event, the blonde beauty shared her reasons for choosing the part.
“I really empathized with Kay and her loss, and her… I don’t know, there was something deeply tragic about her and somewhat distant,” she said.
“And then she decides to return. Regardless, there was the meta aspect of her not giving up, which I was also doing,” Paltrow mentioned.
Last year, she and Chalamet, 29, attracted attention when images of them were released.kissing on the Marty Supreme film location went viral.
Remembering how her friends responded to the passionate kiss,she mentioned during an appearance on Good Morning America last month, ‘You should have seen my mom group chats when the paparazzi photos came out of us kissing in the park. All the moms were pretty excited.’
Apple is enrolled at Vanderbilt University and mentionedInterviewmagazine in 2025 where she is described as ‘a law, history, and society student.’
After launching her fashion campaign with Self Portrait earlier this year, she emphasized that her parents instilled in her the importance of a solid work ethic.
She told The Daily TelegraphIn October, “I know this is not a typical way to grow up in any sense.”
But my parents did an excellent job of teaching me that I shouldn’t expect anything. I need to put in the work.
Apple has turned her attention to modeling and music, having released a song and music video with the band Jade Street in October.
In the meantime, Moses is also emulating his renowned father — who has been a long-timelead singer of the band Coldplay — footsteps.
He is a member of a trio named Dancer and studies at Brown University.
