Stellan Skarsgård has shared insights into how he manages to film more than 100 projects while also taking care of a large family.

A 74-year-old Swedish individual has eight children ranging in age from 13 to 49—six of them are also performers—and only stopped creating the next wave of Hollywood celebrities by choosing to get a vasectomy.

“It’s insane,” he told CBS Newsof his children’s achievements in the television and film industry. “I mean, what are the odds?”

I didn’t promote it. They don’t have any false ideas about the industry. They notice that I am content and having fun with what I’m doing, so they might be taking inspiration from that.

Mentioning that the age ranges of his children indicate he has been a father for as long as he’s been an actor—”I’ve had kids in the ’70s, the ’80s, the ’90s, the ’00s, and the ’10s”—Skarsgård noted that his personal and professional lives have always been intertwined.

The performer commented on the balance: “I tried to stay home quite a bit. You can’t be a perfect dad all the time. I mean, you have to accept that, and the kids have to accept it too. I’m not perfect. Good luck!”

The two-time Golden Globe recipient also reflected that having a large, young family might have contributed to refining his skills.

Skarsgård said to the publication: “Perhaps I wouldn’t have been able to produce 150 movies if I hadn’t had eight children to learn from.”

I took things from them. Such as expressions and a certain innocent perspective on everything. Simply observing them is amazing.

Skarsgård’s professional journey shows no indication of decreasing. The performer has won theGolden Globe Award for Best Male Supporting Performancethis month for his performance inSentimental Value, which also received the Cannes Film Festival Grand Prix award. Skarsgård also appeared in the latest season of Disney+’shighly regarded television show Andor.

However, the actor has acknowledged that he has experienced long-term psychological effects from havinghad a stroke in 2022. Skarsgård did not take a break even during the health crisis and started filmingDune: Part Twowith a headset that allowed an assistant to provide him with his lines.

Speaking to VultureLast year, he acknowledged that his health had become a difficulty. “All of a sudden, I couldn’t recall names,” he mentioned.

I am unable to follow a thought or construct an argument that extends over multiple sentences and reaches the main point—that, then bang! That is very frustrating. However, on the other hand, I am alive. I can still work.
