A CaliforniaA homeowner has ultimately taken out a 550-pound bear that had been causing chaos under his house for more than a month.
Kenneth Johnson, 63, found the large male black bearhad settled in the attic of his $1.5 million Altadena house just prior toThanksgiving.
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) made an effort to capture the creature, known as Yellow 2120 by scientists, using traps and sound devices.
But their attempts failed and Johnson even tthreatened to take legal action against the departmentafter they supposedly ceased assisting with the removal.
Nevertheless, the property owner eventually experienced a fortunate turn of events on Tuesday when specialists from the BEAR League became involved.
Individuals from a non-governmental organization located in the Lake Tahoe Basin made a journey toLos Angelesto assist Johnson. The team’s objective is to enable individuals to reside ‘in balance with bears’.
“Scott, one of our seasoned responders, moved under the house – fully aware the bear was still present – to position himself behind the animal and prompt him to leave through the crawl space opening,” BEAR League posted on Facebook.
The video captured the enormous bear emerging from beneath the house while the volunteers shot paintballs at it.

“I couldn’t believe how quick it was,” Johnson said KTLA. “These individuals entered, they crept in behind him and, suddenly, he was down.”
I’m relieved – no more noises beneath the house and the smell of him, and wondering what’s happening down there.
Johnson recorded video of the bear trying to go back to his home two days later, but he managed to secure the crawl space and installed an electric mat to prevent him from entering.
“We also provided electric welcome mats to allow the homeowner time to carry out repairs and reinforce the crawlspace to avoid future visits,” BEAR League mentioned.
Prior to the bear’s removal, Johnson mentioned that he had to turn off his gas supply following the capture of footage showing a damaged pipe near the bear.
Johnson has subsequently initiated aGoFundMeto assist in covering the expenses for the repairs.
‘Immediately following surviving the Eaton fire, I lost my job, and not long after that, the bear started damaging the framework of my house,’ he wrote.
I possess video recordings of it twisting gas pipes, resulting in a highly hazardous scenario that compelled me to turn off my utilities to ensure my safety.

I’m seeking assistance to cover the expenses of removing the bear, fixing the damage, and restoring my home to a safe and habitable condition.
BEAR League wrote that this case shows the importance of securing your crawlspace.
“If you reside in an area where bears are present, sealing your crawlspace is crucial,” the group stated.
