A student altercation at Troy Athens High School has led to school discipline and a Troy police investigation after video of the punch spread online. The student’s parent says her son was reacting to repeated racial slurs, while district leaders stress that any hurtful or discriminatory language is unacceptable. Police are now reviewing the case.
Meet the Troy High senior earning national honors for cutting-edge research
A Troy High School student from Troy is among the top 300 scholars in the 2026 Regeneron Science Talent Search, recognized for advanced research on blockchain consensus using machine learning. Working with a Stony Brook University mentor, he joins standout seniors nationwide who will compete for major STEM awards, bringing national academic attention back to Troy.
