A Moment of Awkwardness at the Golden Globes 2026

At the Golden Globes 2026, a moment of unexpected humor turned into an awkward situation for Michael B. Jordan and his mother, Donna Jordan. The host of the event, Nikki Glaser, took a jab at the actor during her monologue that left both him and his mother visibly uncomfortable.

Glaser began by referencing Jordan’s role in the film Sinners, where he played two brothers. “In Sinners, Michael played two brothers,” she said. “Am I allowed to say that?” She then proceeded to explain that the Creed star had portrayed twins in the vampire movie directed by his frequent collaborator, Ryan Coogler.

The comedian continued, “And I can’t believe it. We got two Michael B. Jordans. When I saw that, I was like, Nikki B. Jerking, because that was awesome.”

Donna Jordan, who was seated in the audience, appeared slightly uneasy, taking a drink of what looked like water as the crowd laughed. Michael B. Jordan, on the other hand, tried to hide his face while laughing at the joke.

A Proud Mother’s Words

Before the show, Donna Jordan shared her thoughts on her son and what she wanted people to know about him. Speaking to Zuri Hall on E!’s red carpet show, she emphasized his commitment and dedication to his craft. “Just his commitment and his dedication and his persistence to his craft,” she said. “And the messages that he tries to share with everyone with the choices that he makes and the work that he does. I’m very proud of that.”

Sinners, in which Jordan portrays identical twins Smoke and Stack, was one of the night’s top nominees. The film received seven nominations, including Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture — Drama for Jordan and Best Motion Picture — Drama.

A Familiar Presence at Red Carpets

Michael B. Jordan has often brought his mother as his date to high-profile events. This was not the first time she had accompanied him to a red carpet, including the 2026 Critics Choice Awards earlier this month.

The Black Panther actor is known for being close to his mother. He has previously apologized to her for putting her in some uncomfortable situations. For example, he once stripped down to his underwear for a Calvin Klein campaign, where he was pictured on billboards and in print.

“I was like, ‘My mama going to have to see this,’” he told ET in February 2023. “Let me call her and be like, ‘I’m sorry. It’s out here. My business all out in the streets’ — literally.”

It seems Donna Jordan has grown accustomed to such moments, especially considering that Michael B. Jordan was named PEOPLE‘s Sexiest Man Alive in 2020.
