Keith Porter Jr. Family Established GoFundMe for His Children

*The family of Keith Porter Jr. launched an official GoFundMe campaign to support his two surviving daughters. The fundraiser was created to help cover immediate needs and establish a long-term college fund for the children.

Porter was shot and killed on New Year’s Eve in Los Angeles by an off-duty ICE agent. His death sparked outrage, grief, and calls for accountability across Southern California and beyond.

GoFundMe Focuses on Education and Stability

According to the family, the GoFundMe was created to ensure Porter’s daughters have financial stability after the sudden loss of their father. Loved ones emphasized education as a priority, announcing plans for a dedicated college fund.

The campaign quickly gained attention as supporters shared the link across social media. Community members described the fundraiser as a way to turn grief into tangible support for the girls’ future.

Candlelight Vigil Highlighted Family’s Call for Support

A candlelight vigil was held Saturday evening at Carson Park to honor Keith Porter Jr. and Renee Nicole Good. Organizers used the gathering to encourage donations and continued community support for Porter’s children.

The vigil was officially sponsored by Porter’s family and co-sponsored by Project Islamic Hope, the National Action Network, and the NAACP of Carson. Attendees lit candles and shared messages of solidarity with the family.

Family Disputed Federal Account of Shooting

Federal officials stated the ICE agent believed he was responding to an “active shooter.” Porter’s family and civil rights leader Najee Ali strongly disputed that claim.

They stated Porter was firing a gun into the air in celebration and posed no immediate threat. The family has continued to call for an independent investigation into the shooting.

Renee Nicole Good Also Remembered

The vigil also honored Renee Nicole Good, a Minneapolis mother fatally shot by an ICE agent on Jan. 7, 2026. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey publicly condemned the shooting as “reckless.”

Her death, alongside Porter’s, intensified scrutiny of ICE agent conduct and federal accountability. Speakers described the cases as part of a broader national issue.

Civil Rights Leaders Called for Justice and Reform

Najee Ali addressed the crowd, calling the deaths preventable and deeply troubling. He urged continued pressure for transparency and reform within federal law enforcement agencies.

“These are not isolated incidents,” said Najee Ali. “They reflect a dangerous pattern of excessive force, poor judgment, and a lack of accountability that is costing innocent people their lives.”

Supporters said the fundraiser represents more than financial help. It serves as a statement of solidarity with a family grieving an unexpected and controversial loss.

As investigations continue, community leaders urged the public to remain engaged. For Porter’s daughters, the GoFundMe stands as a crucial step toward security, healing, and hope.
