For Kaylin, the hardest part of her journey isn’t the pain or the fear of dying—it’s the thought of leaving her children behind. “My biggest fear isn’t dying; it’s leaving my children behind with added pain, stress and financial burden to my family when I’m gone,” she wrote on her GoFundMe page.
To ease the burden on her family, Kaylin created a fundraiser to cover the costs of her funeral and end-of-life expenses. She wants to make sure that her children won’t have to worry about these financial responsibilities during such a difficult time.
“I want to do everything I can to protect them and ease their future, even when I’m no longer here,” she said.
A Family’s Heartbreak
Kaylin’s mother, Myra Gawf, has spoken about the emotional toll of watching her daughter fight this battle. “I can’t fix this. I have to let her fight this herself, and I can’t take it away from her,” Myra told Fox 8 Live.
She described the heartbreak of seeing her daughter go through so much suffering. “There’s just nothing they could do for her; it spread that much. They’ve already done five different cycles of chemotherapy, and there’s no more because her body can’t handle it.”
Despite the pain, Myra praised her daughter for staying positive and taking action to support her children. “She still wants to be able to look out for them and try to plan for their future,” she said. “If she doesn’t complain for what she’s going through, what do we have to complain about? She inspires us all to do that, especially me. She’s my little hero.”
