ST. LOUIS – Steve’s Hot Dogs and The Fountainwill shut down their Delmar stores on January 10 following several months of financial difficulties caused by the severe tornado that hit the region in May.

Danni Eickenhorst, the CEO of the parent company HuSTL, stated in a press release that the continuous displacement of residents and the delayed rebuilding of the area have rendered daily operations unfeasible.

The eateries, situated in the Delmar Maker’s Locale, are concluding their operations following what the company referred to as a rigorous seven-month recovery initiative from theAn EF-3 tornado that hit the region in May.

Although both businesses sustained damage, their teams quickly started working after the storm to assist the local community. As stated in the release, employees provided 750 meals and handed out over 300 bags of groceries and personal items in the days following the tornado.

HuSTL Hospitality also secured $100,000 in recovery grants through its”Rebuild the Block” concertand spearheaded the Delmar Hope Murals project, but mentioned that the region’s sluggish economic recovery eventually made it unfeasible to keep going.

CEO Danni Eickenhorst stated that the shutdowns mark a change in strategy, not the conclusion of the company’s goals.

When we established these locations, our goal was to build a genuine community hub along the Delmar Divide,” Eickenhorst stated. “I genuinely feel we were making progress toward that when the tornado hit.

Moving ahead, HuSTL Hospitality stated that it will concentrate its expansion on various types of operations, such as stadiums, festivals, food halls, and residencies. The company mentioned that this strategy aims to establish more sustainable, higher-paying jobs for workers.

As part of this plan, HuSTL Hospitality will introduce a Steve’s Hot Dogs food truck on March 1, enabling the brand to keep providing services to customers throughout the area at a reduced expense.

The company stated that it is striving to relocate all employees impacted by the shutdowns to other facilities, including current locations.

Steve’s Hot Dogs will keep running its five locations (two physical stores and three stadium outlets). The Fountain will continue to operate their main location, The Fountain on Locust, as only their Delmar location is closing.

Eickenhorst stated that the company will keep its commitment to the Delmar area’s recovery and will continue to back the neighborhood’s long-term rebuilding initiatives.

The general public is welcome to explore the sites prior to their closure on January 10.
