SHAH ALAM: Sunsuria Bhd is making strides in enhancing its environmental, social, and governance responsibilities through the establishment of Sunsunia Foundation. This initiative aims to make substantial impacts within three key areas: education, community development, and environmental conservation.
“Having established Sunsuria Bhd back in 1989, our company has evolved into an entity focused on making a positive impact with a dedication towards building a more prosperous and environmentally conscious tomorrow,” stated Sunsuria Bhd’s founder and executive chairperson Tan Sri Ter Leong Yap.
The introduction of the Sunsuria Foundation is an organic progression of our dedication to community.
In celebration of the launch, the foundation has introduced a scholarship program for XMUM students, expanding upon their ongoing collaboration. To date, Sunsuria has provided a combined contribution totaling RM12 million.
Apart from providing financial assistance, Sunsuria has dedicated substantial time, resources, and personnel to aid in setting up and continuously advancing the university — underscoring its long-term dedication to education.
“We express our deep gratitude to Sunsuria for their generous backing and long-standing association with Xiamen University Malaysia,” stated Professor Dr Wang Ruifang, who serves as the university’s president.
Sunsuria’s ongoing dedication has been instrumental in supporting us as we strive to cultivate and strengthen the upcoming batch of leaders.
Before the official release, Sunsuria initiated several community-oriented programs as groundwork for their Education sector. This involved offering scholarships to pupils attending Concord College International School, supplying learning materials to kindergarten kids studying at SK Kota Warasan, and aiding various academic endeavors at Kuen Cheng High School, Pin Hwa High School, Hin Hua High School, and SM Tengku Ampuan Rahimah.
Sunsuria has also backed education via book contributions, health-related aid, scholarships, and career growth prospects for youth. Furthermore, Sunsuria is aiding in the building of SJK (C) Sunsuria in Sepang.
Sunsuria has similarly provided assistance to nearby communities and environmental projects through its emphasis on social responsibility. Up until now, they have allocated RM1.31 million for various causes such as health services, orphanages, senior citizen welfare, and emergency aid. Their contributions encompass giving out oxygen equipment and facial coverings amid the coronavirus outbreak due to severe supply issues. Additionally, these activities involve organizing community food drives, supporting young people’s growth programs, and aiding construction endeavors.
To promote environmental sustainability, Sunsuria has planted more than 5,000 trees in Sunsuria City.
