Syracuse, N.Y. — The 2025 All-Central New York gymnastics team has been announced, featuring 12 standout athletes selected by local reporters. These athletes have demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication throughout the season, earning their place on this prestigious team.

The gymnast of the year finalists will be revealed after the New York State Championships on February 28, 2026, at Valley Gymnastics. The winner of the award will be announced at “s | The Post Standard’s annual All-CNY Sports Awards presented by Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists. This event is scheduled for June 23, 2026, inside the Liverpool High School Auditorium. More details about the event can be found online.

Mia Arvidson

School: Fayetteville-Manlius

Class: Junior

  • Future plans? College? Playing any winter or spring sports?

    Club season at CNY and varsity again in the fall.

  • Who has been your biggest inspiration?

    My parents are my biggest inspiration. They are constantly supporting me and always look out for me while also pursuing their own interests and passions. They’re a great example for me to show that I can be focused on my own gymnastics while also supporting and helping my other teammates.

  • What’s your favorite memory with your team this season?

    My favorite memory this season is conditioning while our coach asks us math problems. It was just really funny every time because someone would always mess up.

  • If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

    Teleportation would be my superpower because I’d love to go anywhere I want whenever I feel like it.

  • If you could trade places with anyone for a day, who would it be?

    I would trade places with Taylor Swift. I wish I was a good singer and I think it would be super cool to tour the whole world with my friends and get to do something that I really enjoy.

Ailey Babikian

School: JD-FM

Class: Junior

  • Future plans? College? Playing any winter or spring sports?

    I plan to continue varsity gymnastics next fall.

  • Who has been your biggest inspiration?

    My biggest inspiration has been both my coaches and teammates because of their dedication and support.

  • What’s your favorite memory with your team this season?

    My favorite memory with my team this season was taking ice baths together.

  • If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

    If I could have any superpower, it would be teleportation because I would be able to travel the world easily.

  • If you could trade places with anyone for a day, who would it be?

    If I could trade places with anyone for a day, it would be my dog because he is very spoiled and gets to sleep or do whatever all day.

Miley Basilio

School: Baldwinsville

Class: Freshman

  • Future plans? College? Playing any winter or spring sports?

    I have softball coming up as a spring sport.

  • Who has been your biggest inspiration?

    My biggest inspiration is probably my papa because he’s always at every sporting event I have ever had, whether he knows the sport or not he’s always giving me corrections how to be better and shows me how to push myself to my best.

  • What’s your favorite memory with your team this season?

    My favorite memory with this team was our bus rides to practices with Mr. Ed.

  • If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

    If I could have any superpower, I would want to be able to teleport so I can go to my friends’ houses whenever I want.

  • If you could trade places with anyone for a day, who would it be?

    If I could trade places with anyone, I would want to trade places with Tate McRae, so I would be able to sing and I think my friends would like that.

Erin Buckles

School: JD-FM

Class: Sophomore

  • Future plans? College? Playing any winter or spring sports?

    CNY club gymnastics, and F-M High School’s production of the musical “Newsies.”

  • Who has been your biggest inspiration?

    My parents because they are always encouraging me and cheering me on every step of the way.

  • What’s your favorite memory with your team this season?

    Our team pasta party before sectionals because it’s such a great time of team bonding and hyping each other up for sectionals, showing how much we work together as a team.

  • If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

    The superpower to time travel, so I can meet many great people that I look up to from the past.

  • If you could trade places with anyone for a day, who would it be?

    Gracie Abrams, so I can see what it’s like to be famous and know how she comes up with her unique song lyrics.

Morgan Devine

School: F-M

  • Future plans? College? Playing any winter or spring sports?

    College, hopefully

  • Who has been your biggest inspiration?

    My friend Mia is a big inspiration because she is always working hard.

  • What’s your favorite memory with your team this season?

    My favorite memory is the banquet and getting to spend time with my team.

  • If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

    To teleport so that I don’t have to drive anywhere.

  • If you could trade places with anyone for a day, who would it be?

    Suni Lee because she lives in NYC and I feel like that would be fun.

Grayson Gall

School: New Hartford

Class: Senior

  • Future plans? College? Playing any winter or spring sports?

    Attending college in the fall!

  • Who has been your biggest inspiration?

    My biggest inspiration has been my parents. My parents are my biggest inspiration because of their constant support, resilience and work ethic. Watching them overcome challenges while always putting our family first has taught me the value of perseverance and gratitude.

  • What’s your favorite memory with your team this season?

    My favorite memory this past season was my last sectional meet. After six years on the team, it was incredibly special to see not only how much my teammates had grown, but how much I had grown as a person, teammate, and gymnast with the support of my coaches and teammates. The day was filled with laughter, hard work, and unforgettable memories, ending with a sectional win and such a special final meet in our home gym.

  • If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

    If I could have any superpower, I would want the ability to time-travel. I think it would be super interesting to get to travel not only in the future and see what my life would be like, but also in the past and getting to experience life in all the historical aspects we learn about in school!

  • If you could trade places with anyone for a day, who would it be?

    Emma MacDiarmid

    School: New Hartford

    Class: Sophomore

  • Who has been your biggest inspiration?

    My coach Dani because she motivated me to be my best.

  • What’s your favorite memory with your team this season?

    Dancing while warming up at sectionals.

  • If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

    To fly so I could travel.

  • If you could trade places with anyone for a day, who would it be?

    Simone Biles because she was a great gymnast and lives a fun life.

Julia Makuszak

School: New Hartford

Class: Senior

  • Future plans? College? Playing any winter or spring sports?

    Competing for Springfield College after completing my club season.

  • Who has been your biggest inspiration?

    My biggest inspiration is Miranda Smith, who went to my gym so I was able to see her grow and watch her gymnastics throughout my life.

  • What’s your favorite memory with your team this season?

    My favorite memory with my team from this season is continuing our 14-year sectional winning streak.

  • If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

    I would want to be invisible so I can see everything but not have people see me.

  • If you could trade places with anyone for a day, who would it be?

    I would trade places with my mom so I could understand how much she does for me and my family and help my appreciation grow.

Genevieve Michel

    My favorite memory with my team this season was our breast cancer challenge practice.

Amelia Ochse

Class: Freshman

    Track and field this spring. Gymnastics in college.

  • Who has been your biggest inspiration?

    Coach Liz, because she helped me with my series.

  • What’s your favorite memory with your team this season?

    Going to get ice cream after a meet.

  • If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

    If I could have any superpower it would be telekinesis because I would be able to move anything.

  • If you could trade places with anyone for a day, who would it be?

    I would trade places with a college gymnast to experience a day in the life of a collegiate athlete.

Sienna Rhode

School: East Syracuse Minoa

Class: Eighth grade

  • Future plans? College? Playing any winter or spring sports?

    Competing as a level 9 club gymnast for CNY Gymnastics Centre.

  • Who has been your biggest inspiration?

    Katelyn Ohashi because she has inspired me to prevent negativity from getting in the way of achieving my goals. She battled injury and came back stronger and more energetic than before.

  • What’s your favorite memory with your team this season?

    My favorite memory happens after every routine when all of my teammates line up and high-five me for my performance.

  • If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

    I would be able to control time so I can pause it in the morning to get more sleep.

  • If you could trade places with anyone for a day, who would it be?

    I would trade places with Katie Ledecky so I could experience competing in a sport at the highest level possible.

Madison Scranton

School: New Hartford

Class: Senior

    I’m going to Cortland to further continue my gymnastics career.

  • Who has been your biggest inspiration?

    My parents, because they have always been by my side and never given up on me.

  • What’s your favorite memory with your team this season?

    My favorite memory with my team was dancing before our meets together because it really brought our team closer together.

  • If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

    Flying because it would be easier to travel places faster.
