Info–Deputy Minister of Cooperatives (Wamenkop) Ferry Juliantono, together with the Deputy Head I of the Poverty Eradication Acceleration Agency (BP Taskin) Nanik S. Deyang, and the initiator of the Precision Village Data (DDP) from IPB University, Prof. Sofyan Sjaf, are finalizing collaboration plans/partnerships to strengthen the use of village data as a basis for national development planning and poverty eradication.
Wamenkop Ferry Juliantono stated that poverty is one of the national issues that is now the focus of President Prabowo Subianto’s administration to be resolved. Therefore, various strategic programs have been formulated, starting from the Red and White Village/Neighborhood Cooperatives (Kopdes/Kel), improving access to health and education, up to creating job opportunities.
Accurate database usage becomes the main capital to ensure that poverty alleviation programs are targeted, especially in villages. “We need a truly accurate village database to be used in decision-making,” said Deputy Minister of Cooperatives Ferry Juliantono while attending the presentation of the Precision Village Data (DDP) by Professor Sofyan Sjah, a senior lecturer in the field of Development Sociology from Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB), who initiated DDP, in Jakarta, Tuesday (5/8).
According to the Deputy Minister of Cooperatives, currently there is an application that allows for a comprehensive photograph of the village’s condition, starting from the village’s potential, the village’s demographics, to the accurate profile of the village’s community. This application is Data Desa Presisi (DPP), developed with an integrated technology system with Artificial Intelligence (AI).
This application has been tested in various villages in Indonesia, one of which is DIY. The data generated from this application is considered credible to be considered by the government, especially BP Taskin, in formulating policies related to poverty alleviation.
Wamenkop Ferry added that this meeting is a continuation of previous discussions between the Ministry of Cooperatives and BP Taskin, which discussed the importance of updating village data collection methods. In the future, the Ministry of Cooperatives is ready to strengthen cooperation with BP Taskin to improve the accuracy of data collection by involving various parties.
“Kita want to have the same spirit to build precise data because we both want to reduce poverty, even eliminate it,” said the Deputy Minister of Cooperatives.
Meanwhile, Deputy Head I of BP Taskin, Nanik S. Deyang, welcomed the effort of this cooperation plan. Therefore, BP Taskin hopes that the spirit of collaboration to validate data, especially the data on poor people in Indonesia, can be carried out by involving various parties, particularly from the academic community.
Professor of Sociology of Development at IPB and initiator of DDP, Prof. Sofyan Sjaf, explained that DDP was established to build an accurate and participatory database from the bottom up. With a participatory approach involving local community members, the data built in this application can serve as the main foundation for village development planning. “We need to recognize data built from the bottom up, by the community itself,” explained Sofyan.
DDP combines the spatial micro approach with drone technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and enumerators from the local village youth. The data collected not only covers physical objects such as buildings, but also social subjects such as the dynamics of the village population.
“We developed an application-based data collection system that can only be filled by enumerators when they are truly on site. All data is controlled and supervised, combined in a single server containing spatial and numerical data,” explained Sofyan.
To date, DDP has been implemented in 16 provinces, 38 regencies/cities, and covers 1,239 villages. All processes are carried out scientifically, participatively, and supervised by academics to ensure the accuracy and sustainability of the data.***
