Wanda Sykes explained why she and other celebrities are wearing pins that say "BE GOOD" at the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, Jan. 11.

Sykes and Mark Ruffalo, among others, are wearing pins in support of Renee Nicole Good, who was killed by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent in Minneapolis on Jan. 7.

"I know are out marching and all today, and we need to speak up," Sykes said on the red carpet.

Wanda Sykes and other celebrities at the Golden Globes Awards are showing support for Renee Nicole Good, the woman who was recently killed by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent.

Sykes, 61, arrived at the 83rd annual awards ceremony on Sunday, Jan. 11, wearing a white pin with black lettering that read, "BE GOOD," in reference to Good, 37, who was fatally shot in Minneapolis on Jan. 7 as ICE launched large-scale raids in Minneapolis, following intensified rhetoric from President Donald Trump and his administration regarding Somali immigrants. (Minneapolis-St. Paul is home to the largest Somali population in the United States.)

"Of course this is for the mother who was murdered by an ICE agent, and it’s really sad. I know are out marching and all today, and we need to speak up," Sykes told Variety on the red carpet ahead of the awards show. "We need to be out there and shut this rogue government down, because it’s just awful what they’re doing to ."

An official description for the pin campaign reads that it "aims to honor Renee Macklin Good and Keith Porter while also reminding us what it means to be good to one another in the face of such horror – to be a good citizen, neighbor, friend, ally and human." (Keith Porter was a man who was killed by an off-duty ICE officer in Los Angeles on Dec. 31, according to multiple reports.)

"Everyday, everywhere, regular are being good: keeping kids safe when they walk to school, filming fathers who are being disappeared from their workplaces, donating to fundraisers to support organizations who are keeping us safe," the description for the campaign adds. "The #BeGood campaign is launching following reports that 2025 was one of ICE’s deadliest year in two decades, and in response to the current administration’s $100 million wartime recruitment campaign aimed at expanding enforcement capacity."

Organizations involved in organizing the #BeGood campaign include Marmot, Move On, National Domestic Workers Alliance, Working Families Power and "leaders from every sector of the entertainment industry," according to a release. Mark Ruffalo was also among attendees at the Globes seen wearing the pins as they arrived on the red carpet.
