The first month of the year is typically linked with starting new exercise programs, as gyms experience a rise in membership applications and individuals seek out fresh activities.
And 2026 is expected to be similar – however, a new gym is set to challenge all others.
The top-tier gym class in the world has started aboard a hot air balloon, soaring at an amazing height of 2,200ft (670 metres).
Riyadh, Saudi Arabiais embracing the new year in a genuine fitness manner, featuring the newest gym package from GymNation.
Famous for its creative classes, GymNation’s newest idea pushes the limits of fitness by offering a workout in a hot air balloon, 2,200ft above Riyadh’s cityscape.
The course was created in collaboration with GymNation’s acclaimed fitness team and sports scientist, Aderito Manuel.
Studies carried out within the Gulf Cooperation Council showed that 67 percent of people who exercise are now looking for more unforgettable fitness experiences instead of standard workouts.
Sports professionals and athletes frequently incorporate high-altitude training into their routines.

The principle “was the foundation” for the world’s top gym class, as stated by Aderito Manuel, a prominent sports scientist.
Aderito stated: “The idea behind the world’s highest gym class is based on scientific principles.”
Altitude training may boost the total number of red blood cells by 3 to 10 percent and hemoglobin levels by 5 to 10 percent in the body because of the reduced oxygen levels found at high altitudes.
This rise may support recovery, as muscles receive more oxygen.
It is a widely used technique among various athletes, such as runners, cyclists, and HYROX competitors aiming to enhance their aerobic endurance.
Attendees can also anticipate burning an additional five to 15 percent of calories while exercising at high altitudes, as stated by the company.
After a vigorous warm-up and stretching on the ground, participants will go up to approximately 2,200ft for a 30-minute comprehensive full-body strength and fitness session in the air.
The lesson incorporates customized bodyweight and resistance exercises, such as Cloud Crushers (squats), Altitude Lunges (lunges), Overhead Ascent (overhead press), Wing Spans (lateral raises), and Bicep Take-Offs (bicep curls).

Throughout the session, attendees will get to view notable structures such as Kingdom Tower, Majdoul Tower, and Al Faisaliah Tower.
Rory McEntee, the head of marketing at GymNation, stated: ‘According to the research, individuals who exercise are expecting more from their fitness providers, and since GymNation launched its first gym in KSA, we have consistently provided – including advanced equipment, modern interiors, and specialized studio areas along with some of the biggest free weights sections in the area.’
Our growth in the KSA is progressing rapidly, and this new class elevates the experience to unprecedented levels, offering a unique fitness concept for a region that is emerging as a global standard for achieving records.
I mean, where else can you stretch with a view of the Kingdom Tower or crouch while glancing at the Majdoul Tower?
The sessions will be held every Saturday during January, with a restricted number of spots because of the unique nature of the activity. Reservations are currently openopen online.
The course was created in partnership with top health and safety specialists to guarantee a secure environment.
