FOREST PARK, Ga. (AP) — Two individuals lost their lives and at least two more sustained injuries during a substantial assembly of motorcyclists located just south of Atlanta, according to law enforcement officials.
The incident occurred approximately at 5 p.m. on Sunday in Forest Park, according to a statement released by the police.
When law enforcement officials arrived, many bikers sped off, and authorities had to maneuver through a “substantial and disorderly gathering” of approximately 100 to 150 individuals just to get to those who were injured, according to statements from the Forest Park Police Department.
The two individuals who sustained injuries were admitted to the hospital on Monday in critical condition, according to Forest Park Police Chief Brandon Criss during a news conference held on Monday.
“We are aware that a verbal dispute took place, and regarding the events during this disagreement, that is all I am able to comment on,” stated Criss.
The police “are very close to bringing those responsible for this crime to justice,” he stated.
The police chief stated that one of the deceased individuals was from Philadelphia. Little additional information regarding the victims was provided right away.
Criss mentioned that the meeting included motorcycle clubs, though he didn’t specify which ones.
