Nikki Glaser’s Bold Jabs at the Golden Globes

During her opening monologue at the 2026 Golden Globes, comedian Nikki Glaser delivered a series of sharp and often humorous remarks that left the audience in stitches. Her performance was nothing short of electrifying, as she took aim at stars both big and small, young and old, nominated and not nominated.

One of the most memorable moments came when she addressed the cast of Paul Thomas Anderson’s film One Battle After Another. Glaser began with a joke about Leonardo DiCaprio, who was present at the event. "Leonardo DiCaprio is here for one man bun after another!" she quipped from the stage at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. She then praised his performance in the film, saying, "How good was Leo in One Battle? I mean it’s insane, it’s so good."

As the camera cut to the 51-year-old star smiling nervously in the audience, Glaser continued with a pointed remark: "What a career you’ve had. Countless iconic performances, worked with every great director, won three Golden Globes, an Oscar," she said, before delivering a punchline. "And the most impressive thing is you were able to accomplish all that before your girlfriend turned 30."

The audience responded with a mix of raucous laughter and shocked guffaws. Glaser herself appeared somewhat cowed by her own brazenness — which turned out to be the setup for another bit. "Leo, I’m sorry I made that joke, it’s cheap! I mean, I tried not to, we just don’t know anything else about you, man. There’s nothing else! Like, open up!" she joked, getting a rare, genuine laugh out of DiCaprio. "I’m serious. I looked, I searched. I mean, the most in-depth interview you’ve given was in Teen Beat magazine in 1991. Is your favorite food still ‘Pasta, pasta, and more pasta?’"

DiCaprio nodded his head with a surprised smile on his face, seeming to indicate that Glaser was indeed quoting a real answer he gave to a 30-year-old interview question.

Glaser didn’t stop there. She moved on to praise the performance of rising star Chase Infiniti, who plays the daughter of the characters played by DiCaprio and Best Supporting Actress winner Teyana Taylor. Then, she turned her attention to Sean Penn, who was also nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for his performance in One Battle After Another.

"Sean Penn is also here — Colonel Lockjaw himself," she said, citing Penn’s character’s name. "The best, one of my favorite characters of all time. I love you, Sean, you’re such an original. Everyone in this town is obsessed with looking younger. Meanwhile, Sean is like, ‘What if I slowly morph into a sexy leather handbag?’ And I mean, that’s hot!"

Penn, who lost to Stellan Skarsgård in Sentimental Value, was clearly amused by Glaser’s comment. His reaction added to the overall energy of the night, showcasing the comedic brilliance of the performer.

Throughout the evening, Glaser’s jokes were a mix of wit, satire, and bold commentary, making her monologue one of the standout moments of the 2026 Golden Globes. Her ability to balance humor with sharp observations kept the audience engaged and entertained.
