The Top Destinations for British Holiday Memories in 2025

As the summer season comes to an end, a recent study has highlighted where Brits created their most cherished holiday memories this year. The results reveal that one of the most iconic Parisian landmarks has claimed the top spot, defying common perceptions and proving that some destinations truly capture the hearts of travelers.

The research, conducted by travel experts at Attraction-Tickets.com, analyzed the “Happiness Index” for popular holiday spots. This index combines several factors, including online sentiment, traveler satisfaction, and destination popularity. Each location was evaluated using six key data points, such as average online ratings, estimated sunshine hours during the summer, and the frequency of words like ‘perfect’ and ‘magic’ in reviews.

Paris emerged as the clear winner with an impressive score of 27.65 out of 30. The city’s famous Eiffel Tower played a significant role in this achievement, effectively countering the so-called “Paris Syndrome,” which often describes the overwhelming experience of visiting the city. Paris’s strong positive reviews and high search popularity underscore its enduring appeal among British tourists.

Following closely behind Paris are three major American theme parks. Walt Disney World Resort in Florida secured second place with a score of 27.55, while Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort ranked third and fourth, both scoring 27.5. These results highlight the popularity of U.S. theme parks among British travelers.

Florida made a strong showing in the top 10, with three entries on the list. This reflects the region’s reputation for offering some of the world’s best theme park experiences. Meanwhile, UK destinations accounted for nearly half of the top 20, with nine entries in total.

Several British attractions stood out in the rankings, including Peppa Pig World, Alton Towers, and Longleat Safari Park. Peppa Pig World, in particular, ranked ninth with a score of 26.6, surpassing some international competitors like Disneyland Paris. Center Parcs Longleat Forest also made it into the top 10, despite criticism about its high cost for families.

Discovery Cove in Orlando placed sixth with a score of 26.75, while Warner Bros. Studio Tour London came in seventh, sharing the same score. Other notable UK entries included Legoland Windsor, Butlin’s resorts in Skegness and Bognor Regis, and the Natural History Museum in London.

Oliver Brendon, a travel expert and CEO at Attraction-Tickets.com, commented on the findings, stating, “This index shows that happiness on holiday comes from a combination of factors. While sunshine plays a role, it’s the emotional resonance of places that truly makes them unforgettable.”

He added, “Destinations like the Eiffel Tower, the Natural History Museum, Warner Bros. Studio Tour, and Walt Disney World Resort have that magic formula of excitement and bucket-list appeal.”

In addition to these findings, new data suggests that interest in slow travel is growing in the UK. Between April 2023 and March 2024, internet searches for slow travel increased by 5.4%, according to research by Sainsbury’s Bank. This trend indicates that more travelers are seeking peaceful and relaxing getaways.

Cornwall has been identified as the most relaxing destination in Europe, with a score of 47.5. Known for its stunning natural beauty, the southwest coastal area offers breathtaking beaches and scenic countryside. It’s no surprise that this picturesque location made it to the top of the rankings.
