In 2021, she encountered Mr Procter, whom her father Graham Longhurst characterized as ‘the love of her life, everything she had always desired’.

He stated: ‘Charlie went astray, and this genuinely disturbed her.’

Mr Longhurst mentioned that his daughter was highly empathetic and ‘a total commitment type of person’.

On August 20, Ms Longhurst messaged Mr Procter stating ‘she wished she could end her life as he had been unfaithful,’ according to what was revealed in court.

The next day, she sent another message bidding farewell and hoping he would have good fortune ahead.

Ms Longhurst’s friend Tory Kaye informed the inquest that she last saw her at 3:20 PM on August 21.

She mentioned that Ms Longhurst had been messaging the woman involved in the one-night stand between Mr Procter and her, seeking additional details about the incident.

Ms Harkin stated at the inquest, “We’ve learned that the end of her relationship with her partner was troubling her, and she mentioned having thoughts about not wishing to continue living. However, I don’t consider this uncommon following a breakup.”

‘Furthermore, we understand that the toxicology report indicated that Rielle had consumed an opioid in large quantities, though this was not found to be a lethal dose.’

‘She had consumed alcohol as well, and this mixture would have had a depressive effect on her nervous system.’

‘It would cause her to feel extremely tired and sluggish.’

Ms Harkin stated that nobody could confirm when the letters were penned prior to her death, and she further commented, “Both the family and Charlie knew her intimately and they do not think she meant to end her life.”

Ms Longhurst was among five brothers and sisters and a skilled student at a grammar school, according to what the inquest learned.

She pursued her medical studies at the University of Liverpool and graduated in 2017.
