As coding grows in significance as a skill for students to acquire from an early age, schoolmates Chin Ling Yan and V. Priyangka, both 15 years old, are keen to keep up with the latest developments.

This is entirely unfamiliar to us since we have never studied programming or the process of developing software.

I am interested in learning because it seems fascinating. It would be beneficial to gain an understanding of the fundamental skills needed for coding.

“Handling it as a team makes it less intimidating,” Ling Yan mentioned during the Science, Technology and Innovation Awareness and Development Programme (SciTech4U-Mosti Stem Camp) held at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).

Priyangka mentioned that she has always been fond of acquiring new technological skills.

I believe that artificial intelligence (AI) offers numerous applications.

It assists me with my homework when I am unclear about the main idea of the assignment.

It would be wonderful to discover how to apply it for different purposes.

The student from SMK (P) Methodist emphasized the significance of understanding technology as it continues to evolve.

We need to understand it now while it’s still fresh, as it continues to change and develop.

Programs such as this enable us to gain exposure to new experiences that might not be offered in school.

A one-day event hosted by Yayasan Bina Ilmu Pulau Pinang Bhd and Edusteems Sdn Bhd, backed by USM and Yayasan Amal TYT Pulau Pinang, attracted nine primary and secondary schools from the northeastern area.

The chief executive officer of Yayasan Bina Ilmu Pulau Pinang Bhd, Ahmad Shafneezal Abdul Rashid, mentioned that there are intentions to implement this program across the state.

This is our initial project, and we aim to obtain financial support to expand it across the state, or to license it to other regions.

The goal is to encourage them to adopt AI technology in a practical manner.

We hope they can utilize it to address daily challenges instead of merely accessing its material.

He mentioned that attendees had the opportunity to learn how to address problems with the help of AI, while encouraging their personal creativity.

It is more of an intellectual grasp on how AI can be applied to address a problem.

This is significant because AI is a wide-ranging topic with both beneficial and adverse effects.

He mentioned that it is crucial for students to understand how to utilize AI in a beneficial manner, particularly because they have been exposed to the progression of AI.

“It has been utilized for the commercialization of businesses or concepts that may not be beneficial for them,” stated Ahmad Shafneezal.

“Here, they will understand that these tools can be utilized to improve their lives,” he added.
