Amazon Primehas revealed a glimpse ofSophie Turner as Lara Croft in the new Tomb Raider adaptation.
The 29-year-old was named as the actor who assumed the role last year, which is being adapted for television byFleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
Production has officially begun, with Turner seen in Croft’s famous strap-forward combat outfit, accompanied by some unique red-tinted glasses.
The show is inspired by the famous video game series, which centers on the travels of a smoke-show archaeologist and renowned explorer as she tackles a set of puzzle-solving challenges.
Along with Turner, the exhibition has recently revealed a number of prominent new cast members, includingSigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs and Celia Imrie.
Completing the list of actors so far are Martin Bobb-Semple, Jack Bannon, John Heffernan, Bill Paterson, Paterson Joseph, Sasha Luss, Juliette Motamed, and August Wittgenstein.
Turner will be continuing the legacy ofAngelina Jolie and Alicia Vikanderin the part, as well asKeeley Hawes, who voiced the video game character.
The Game of ThronesThe star is reported to have overcome strong competition from Mackenzie Davis,Emma Mackeyand Lucy Boynton in the role, according toThe Hollywood Reporter.
Turner expressed in the statement released last September that she is “overwhelmed with excitement” about securing the part.

Turner posted the initial glimpse on her Instagram, where fans and well-known friends have offered compliments on the actor’s change into the character.

Christopher mentioned he wasn’t certain about the casting announcement, but the initial glimpse completely won him over.
“I hope the script does this look justice. It’s evoking the classic Tomb Raider and I’m all for it,” wrote another.
The show’s creator, Waller-Bridge, referred to Turner as ‘formidable’ in the official statement released at the end of last year.
‘It’s not common to have the opportunity to create a production of this magnitude featuring a character you’ve cherished since childhood,’ she remarked.
