Step Right Up! Wonder Shows Lights Up Spring in Winnipeg

As the final bits of snow vanish and Winnipeg starts to blossom, an annual event signals the genuine arrival of spring: the comeback of Wonder Shows’ Family Fun Spring Fair. Taking place from May 2 to May 4, 2025, the Assiniboia Downs parking lot located at 3975 Portage Avenue will turn into a bustling midway filled with attractions like rides, games, and delicious snacks suitable for people of every age.

Established in 1963 by Henry Saluk, Wonder Shows started off as a small touring carnival and has expanded over time into an extensive three-acre spectacle that tours various locations throughout Manitoba. Since the year 2000, Ken and Anita Kiernicki have been steering the business forward with their wealth of carnival expertise and dedication to maintaining high standards of security and pleasure at all stops along the way. They remain steadfast in offering “family-friendly amusement,” which shines through clearly during each performance; this holds true even when they bring their show to Winnipeg.

Referred to as “The Glittering Midway,”
Wonder Shows
offers an extensive array of entertainment options. For adrenaline junkies, there are intense attractions such as the Skymaster and Zipper, whereas visitors looking for a classic fairground ambiance can delight in time-honored favorites including the Tilt-a-Whirl and Ferris wheel.

Younger guests have the opportunity to enjoy smaller rides like the Frog Hopper and Mini Jets, whereas all visitors can test their skills with carnival games in hopes of winning cuddly prizes.

The Family Fun Spring Fair has evolved into a beloved Winnipeg custom, marking the city’s resurgence following a lengthy winter. This event brings together friends, family members, and neighbors to forge lasting memories and kick off the new season.

The event takes place from Friday, May 2, 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday, May 3, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday, May 4, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Entry costs $25 at the entrance, covering all rides without additional charges. Kids measuring less than 30 inches do not have to pay an entry fee.
