Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is encountering backlash on social media after expressing that he isn’t worried about bare store shelves due to President Trump’s contentious tariff policy. He believes this is because stores have made advance orders assuming they will receive their stock as expected.
“Are you concerned about bare shelves?” Bessant was questioned by Fox News’ “Fox and Friends” on Monday.
“At this moment, no. However, we do have several excellent retailers. I suppose they placed their orders in advance,” he replied.
