Superman’s Iconic Villain Joins James Gunn’s DC Universe

It seems one of the most famous DC antagonists is about to arrive James Gunn’s DCUand has even been selected!

As James Gunn’s new interpretation of the DCU moviesstarts, the excitement is strong about where it’s headed. Gunn has suggested he’s aiming to avoid the errors of the MCU by not overpromising initially and maintaining consistent storylines.

Fans continue to anticipate a major villain to confront, and unsurprisingly, Darkseid is the most frequently mentioned name. In aninterview with Comic Book Movie, Tom King disclosed that his new animatedMister Miracle Show will employ the Lord of Apokolips, and a performer has been selected!

We are currently working on this incredibly amazing show to make it as great as it can possibly be. I’m the showrunner. I’m writing each and every episode. I can confirm that Mister Miracle is a DCU series with significant consequences for the DCU overall. We’re doing it correctly. Mitch is a producer and a designer on it. We’ve managed to cast Darkseid. And we’ve also cast Orion. Naturally, Scott and Barda were the major ones. [We’re] searching for the right people, the right designs, and the way to present this story.

The series adapts King’s own comic, which he created with Mitch Gerads’ illustrations. Developed by the famous Jack Kirby, Scott Free was the son of the honorable Highfather, who ruled New Genesis. As part of a peace agreement, Scott was exchanged with Orion, the child of the wicked Darkseid, who governed the bleak planet Apokolips. Scott eventually broke free from that world, came to Earth, and established himself as a superhero and expert in escaping difficult situations.

Clearly, the concept of Darkseid entering the DC Universe is significant, particularly considering Gunn’s previous comments suggesting that actors who provided voices in the animated series would likely portray those characters in live-action. For Darkseid, fans instinctively assume this formidable entity will serve as the primary antagonist in the DCU.

Although Darkseid was also created by Kirby, it wasn’t until the 1980s that the character emerged as a genuine force of evil in DC Comics. This was enhanced by his role as the central antagonist in the later animated series.Superfriends series. He also appeared in the DCAU, with Michael Ironside providing his voice.

This formidable being, possessing divine strength, governs with strict control and is fixated on discovering the ultimate Anti-Life Equation, which could grant him dominion over the universe or its annihilation.Zack Snyder’s vision for his DC Extended Universe movies was to feature Darkseid as the main antagonist, but we all know how that turned out.

Gunn has previously stated he wasn’t particularly keen on incorporating Darkseid, probably because he felt the character was too recognizable and too similar in public perception to Thanos. Nevertheless, it’s difficult to picture Darkseid not showing up in some capacity, whether as a primary antagonist or a secondary threat watching the action unfold.

The fact that the role has already been filled indicates Darkseid will play a significant part in some way. If they are committed to using the same actor in live-action, it’s probable that it will be a well-known figure or at least someone capable of delivering that powerful voice. We’ll have to wait and see, but the idea of Darkseid joining the new DCU is already generating excitement among fans.
