Code Violethas already been labeled as the worst game of the year, yet it has achieved success, with one reader ready to share his reasons for purchasing it.
We’re just a few weeks into 2026, and we’ve already encountered what has been labeled the worst game of the year. Code Violet has sparked significant discussion in recent days, particularly after it became the most pre-ordered game on…PlayStation Plus, which shows that many individuals don’t consider it the worst of its kind. I don’t, as I am one of those people who purchased it (even though I didn’t pre-order it).
I read GC’s review of the game, and it matched the other reviews I’ve come across. I don’t dispute the main points, although I believe the number of bugs is overstated. There are many, but most are simple to overlook once you understand that the game was essentially developed by about four individuals.
That’s amazing for something that appears this good. Although there are a few graphical bugs and problems, it’s an incredible game most of the time. I was amazed by certain elements in it, and the graphics quality, which surpassed anything most people would expect.indie games could manage.
So why did I purchase it? Well, first of all, and even though GC made a joke about the game’s low popularity, I am a fan ofDino Crisis and dinosaursin general. So when I came across a game that was a spiritual sequel, and appeared to be theResident EvilRemakes caught my attention right away. Being a huge fan of the Jurassic World films, I was hoping for something comparable, just as Dino Crisis was influenced byJurassic Park.
I’d say the game is solid. Of course, the combat has some rough edges, but it functions well and I really enjoy the various environments and the wide range of dinosaurs, which I think is impressive given the budget they were working with.
I would also mention that they released a patch on the first day and they aren’t attempting to deceive people; they have remained in contact with their fans and are working to resolve the problems. In comparison to something likeMonster Hunter Wilds, I am confident that Code Violet will be resolved shortly.
